Technically not textile cause it is mostly rubber and other stuff but it is a costume so it goes here.
There is still some work i would like to do with this such as touch up some paint, maybe change the eyes but mostly i need to fix the rigging cause the spine is really heavy and pulls it down so you cant see thats why there are the chains but id like to fix it. Also need to fix the air circulation so it is more comfortable. Hopefully all done by Emerald City Comicon.
Made from chiropractic spine model, soviet gas mask, bald cap, bicycle helmut, two part epoxy (lots of it), wallet chains, and black fabric paint. (fabric paint works great on rubber)
if your mask is not black already (mine was grey) look hard for good paint, the best one i could find was fabric paint but i still had some trouble with cracks when the latex flexed.
I'd really love to know how you made the spine for the mask... I'm making a gift set for a friend and something similar to what you have made is going to be in it.
Any tips? I'll look for a lighter spine for sure.
Thanks for posting.
This seems like an interesting attempt: [link] . I thought you might be interested...
